I’m Joshua Lisojo, a proud native of Perth Amboy, New Jersey, where I was born, raised, and still call home. During my junior year of high school, a life-altering moment occurred: I sustained a severe spinal cord injury while wrestling at a tournament for Perth Amboy High School. In an instant, I was paralyzed and lost the ability to walk. Today, I navigate the world with the aid of a motorized wheelchair.
Though my injury was profound, I chose resilience over despair. I believe everyone faces challenges, and life is about moving forward. With determination, I set ambitious goals, including earning a master’s degree. I pursued computer science at Kean University in Union, New Jersey, earning a B.S. in Computer Science in 2013 and an M.S. in Computer Information Systems in 2014, graduating magna cum laude.
My disability has not dimmed my intellect or ambition. As a developer, I face no barriers to producing exceptional work. My mission is to harness my skills to shape the future. Inspired by Ed Catmull’s words in Creativity, Inc., “The best way to predict the future is to invent it,” I’m driven to create innovative solutions. From my perspective—whether standing or sitting—the future shines bright.
